Luxury Holiday Cottages situated on the outskirts of York

Finding that perfect self-catering break near York can often seem more complicated than it really should be.
We understand exactly which boxes you want to tick – an idyllic location in picturesque countryside with an array of wildlife, walks, and stunning sunsets literally on your doorstep, but with the sights and sounds of York, one of the UK’s most fascinating cities, just a short drive away, and superbly appointed cottage accommodation that offers you seclusion, luxurious comfort, and that elusive get-away-from-it-all feeling which is so hard to find these days.

Despite its wonderful feeling of seclusion and rurality, A Brecks Away is situated just a few miles north of York and its bustling attractions are only a 10-minute drive away. If you feel like exploring, the spectacular North York Moors and coastal towns of Whitby, Robin Hood’s Bay and Filey are also not far by road, and you can reach the Clifton Moor shopping park in less than a five-minute drive.

We offer properties to cater for couples, small families or larger family get together.

Our properties all offer free WiFi with smart televisions.

All of the cottages offer some outdoor space either a small garden area with patio or a terraced patio for summer night BBQ's. All of the outdoor spaces offer a charcoal BBQ.

All of our properties are heated by a ground source heat pump which will keep you nice and warm this  also provides all the hot water for the site.

All but The Mill offer a wood burning stove.

On arrival there will be a small welcome pack in your cottage with some milk for that well earned cup of tea or coffee or some fruit juice or chocolate for the little people.

We also aim to provide you with some locally baked bread and butter to set you up for the following morning.

Our communal washroom will be constructed soon until then please ask and we will show you where the washing facilities are. Irons and Ironing boards are in all of the cottages.

We provide you with eco-friendly products to use in all of the properties as we are not on a mains sewerage system and bleach will kill our system. We refill all of our bottles that are in the cottage and will provide you with more dishwasher tablets should you run out.

This lovely one bedroom property boasts great views of the countryside from the bedroom windows that are a joy to wake up to!

It has a en suite with a walk-in rainfall shower.

The downstairs is cosy and comfortable with places to sit and dine both inside and out. The well equipped kitchen has everything that you need to prepare a sumptuous meal, tasty snack or preparing a BBQ treat!

For those cosy nights in there is also wood burning stove, perfect for curling up with a glass of wine and a film.

York is only short 10 minute drive from your country retreat!

This property is a lovely size for a family holiday or for friends looking to explore everything that York and the surrounding countryside has to offer.

A spacious fully equipped kitchen, living and dining area means no one is left out of the conversation.

With two luxurious bedroom both of which can be set up as superkings or twins at your request.

The Mill is a spacious cottage with three bedrooms. Situated on the ground floor is the first of the bedrooms with a wet room for easy accessibility.

The further two bedrooms are situated on the first floor with a family bathroom complete with bath and overhead rainfall shower. 

Downstairs is a lovely open plan kitchen, dining and living area perfect for family or friends to get together.

All of the bedrooms offer super-king sized beds which have the ability to be split into twins if needed.

Situated just a few miles north of York and its bustling attractions are only a 10-minute drive away.

The City of York is just 3 miles away from the cottages. You can reach the city by car or by bus.

Rawcliffe Bar Park and Ride is a short journey away. The bus stops at the Railway Museum and then the City Centre.

Clifton Moor retail park is less than a 5minute drive away. There is a selection of restaurants, cinema, bowling and shopping outlets.

Monks cross/Vanguard retail park is a 10-15 minute ride away. This to has a selection of restaurants along with shopping outlets. It also has a cinema, crazy golf, Better health Gym and is home to our football and rugby stadium.

If you feel like exploring, the spectacular North York Moors and coastal towns of Whitby, Robin Hood’s Bay and Filey are also not far by road.

Arrival by car: Off the A1237, Follow the B1363 towards Helmsley. A Brecks Away Cottages @ Brecks Farm are situated a little over half a mile on the right hand side. 

Before arrival we will send you a video of where you are to park and a unique code for your Key safe.

Please note: We are a working farm. No access to the farmyard is permitted at any time during your stay unless by prior arrangement. 

Dogs are very welcome but we ask that you keep them on a lead at all times whilst outside of your property to protect the wildlife and farm animals. Please clean up after your dog and dispose of waste in the bin provided.

Water: We do have a pond so we ask that no child is left un-supervised whilst outside the properties
