Join us in the country for an autumn break on the farm
01 October 2021
With ongoing uncertainty remaining around trips abroad, it’s good to know that the UK’s countryside has plenty to offer those looking to plan an escape this autumn, be it for a romantic weekend, a mid-week retreat or a trip with the whole family.
October and November are ideal months in which to take a break from home. It’s worth making time now for a relaxing pause ahead of busy work schedules in the run up to Christmas. Whether you’re set on escaping to the South West with its milder temperatures, or you have more dramatic mountain scenery in mind, take a look at what our Farm Stay hosts have to offer.
Pack hiking boots, favourite jumpers and waterproof jackets (it’s best to be prepared given our unpredictable British weather) and get outdoors to explore the likes of Scotland, the Yorkshire Dales, Northumberland, Wales or the New Forest this autumn.
We have Farm Stay properties close to some of the UK's most spectacular beauty spots. Wherever you choose, given their individual and unique rural locations, all of our farms have bucolic scenery that’ll help you properly relax and reenergise.
Crisp bright autumnal mornings are ideal for exploring leafy lanes and footpaths. Stroll along the paths around the farm and stop at field gates to watch sheep and cows minding their own business munching the grass. Watch wildlife as they get themselves ready for winter – squirrels dashing about hiding nuts beneath trees and migrating birds flying in V-shaped formations, bound for warmer climates.
Refreshing long walks are rewarded by lunch or hearty suppers in characterful country pubs, before returning to your farm base to unwind in home-from- home comfort. Picture yourself enjoying cosy evenings snuggled up with a good book and a glass of wine, occasionally feeding the woodburner with logs and relishing its natural heat.
