Booking Information & Conditions
Firstly, check our availability - GO TO THE "BOOK NOW" BUTTON, click on your preferred date and fill in the form you are now provisonally booked in! All the information you need is there to pay your deposit. We will now contact you.
If you prefer, you can "BOOK DIRECT" by telephone or email, so we can ensure we meet all your requirements, you are welcome to do so.

Our booking terms are that firm bookings can only be accepted upon the receipt of a deposit of £400. We can accept bank transfers or a cheque payable to "Cook Partners"– please ask at the time of booking. The deposit is non-refundable.
The full balance is due on the day of arrival at the cottage.
Cancellations received within four weeks of the booked period will incur liability for the full amount. Some form of holiday insurance, therefore, may be a consideration.
Possession will normally be given at around 4pm on the day of arrival.
Clients are requested to depart no later than 10am.
Visitors are to be responsible for taking good care of the property and the contents at all times.
Our cottages are thoroughly cleaned between holidays. However, because only a limited period is available in which to clean the cottages and do any maintenance needed, we therefore ask, that you leave the cottage and contents clean and tidy by the requested time of departure.
Only the number of persons stated are allowed in Garden Retreat (4), Pickwell Barton Cottage (6) Pickwell Court (8) at any one time. Your rights to occupy the cottage may be forfeited without compensation if more people take up occupation, overnight guests are entertained without permission, or any activity is undertaken which may cause unreasonable damage, noise or disturbance.
Sorry, we are unable to accept pets in the cottages.

Pickwell Barton Cottages are approx 10 miles from Barnstaple, North Devon and 1 mile from the villages of Georgeham and Croyde - They offer a post office, village shop, garage, church, five pubs and two restaurants between them and several surf shops.
Pickwell Barton is a 600 acre sheep, beef and arable family run farm.
Our Ordinance Survey map reference is 51.1471557920531, and Postcode is EX33 1LA.

The nearest train station is Barnstaple.
Tiverton Parkway has better & quicker connections. Pickwell Barton to Tiverton takes about 60 minutes in good driving conditions.
From Barnstaple there is a regular bus service to Georgeham, (our nearest bus stop), which is a mile from Pickwell Barton.
Arrival and Car Park Facilities
Andrew & Jane (owners of the farm and cottages) live and work at Pickwell Barton. We always try & greet people personally on arrival and if we can’t be here we’ll phone you before arrival and arrange where you can collect the key.
We have 2 cottages, each have their own parking space, enough for 3 cars.

The owner’s farmhouse is first property on the right as you enter the farm.
Each cottage is set in its own private courtyard, grounds, garden and has its own front door and is self-contained.

Each cottage is individual, has its own enclosed private lawn garden, patio, BBQ, garden furniture. Outside tap, recycling area, bins
The pool room is located close to Pickwell Barton Cottage.
Pubs & Restaurants
The nearest pubs, there are two! 1 mile away in Georgeham village. You can walk along the country lane. You will need a torch at night!
There is a folder of information in each cottage telling you all about, 'Best places to eat," "What's on and Things to Do!"
Braunton, Ilfracombe & Barnstaple have a wide selection of restaurants and cafes.
Pickwell Court is a stone built south facing converted barn, sleeping a maximum of 8 in 3 bedrooms, there is a ramp onto the patio the cottage is level throughout the ground floor, only one small step in the utility, the kitchen, utility, bathroom, shower room, hall are all tiled while the lounge and 2 ground floor bedrooms (king and super-king / twin) are carpeted, painted walls throughout, the family bedroom upstairs with an en-suite toilet, the floors are laminated and tiled. The stairs are wooden. The courtyard gently slopes to the lawn and shrub boarders.
Garden Retreat is the downstairs of Pickwell Court, when either one is booked the other cannot be.
Garden Retreat - This is our cosy "Bolt Hole" Cottage, escape from it all for a romantic getaway, or with friends or a small family. It offers all rooms on the ground floor level, 2 bedrooms, 2 bathrooms, cosy country kitchen and a lounge. Patio, garden furniture, BBQ and parking space.
Pickwell Barton Cottage is built of bricks and stone, with white washed walls, you enter by a level courtyard to the front door NO steps! This cottage can sleep six adults in 3 bedrooms that are up a wide stairs (with a hand rail) carpeted stairs and landing, the 3 bedrooms (king, double & super-king/twin) are all carpeted with a mixture of painted walls, the upstairs family toilet/shower room has vinyl flooring, the lounge is carpeted with painted walls. The kitchen, utility and bathroom/toilet are all on the ground floor, all tiled and have painted walls. There are 2 steps in the utility room. There are 2 steps out of the kitchen to the garden and patio, and a small step off the patio onto the lawn.
Walking around the farm and down to the beach can be muddy at times so stout shoes or wellies are recommended for walking. With children/toddlers the larger 3 wheeler buggy’s are the best.
If bringing your bicycles, you can travel to Braunton with a cycle rack then explore the level Tarka Trail to Barnstaple, Fremington, Instow and on to Bideford and further if you like! Bicycles can also be hired from Braunton Cycle Hire
We are a working farm and whilst visitors are welcome to enjoy the farm they do so at their own risk and must take sensible precautions.
NO children are allowed out on the farm under the age of 12 years without an adult.

Drive to Barnstaple via Braunton, as you come into Barnstaple head for the town centre, as you go over the River Yeo, take A39 for Lynton, the Hospital is situated at the top of the hill as you are going out of Barnstaple, at the next set of lights (turn right). If you have a situation at night which worries you please ring the house doorbell and we are here to help you if needed.

Andrew and Jane welcome you to their lovely working farm where they have three of the most beautiful cottages, in the most stunning location overlooking Lundy Island and two of the UK’s best beaches, namely Putsborough and Woolacombe. The cottages have all retained many original features that date back to the mid 19th Century with woodburners, oak beams along with some lovely unique quirky bits.
The age of the cottages affords them spacious rooms whilst offering everything todays multi-generational families require to make their holiday very special. They are equipped to a very high standard, with their own private gardens and parking.They also have private access through the fields to the beach, and we give you free parking at Putsborough Beach for the duration of your stay (worth £50).
Whilst staying with us you will experience country and coastal life all in one. The farm extends down to the South West Coast Path and to the fabulous beaches of Putsborough and award winning Woolacombe beach. It has been voted Best Beach in UK 3 times in the last 10 years.
Pickwell Court is a spacious converted barn sleeping up to 8 people. The Old Coachman's Cottage which backs onto the original stables sleeps 6. The Garden Retreat, our cosy "bolt hole" sleeps 2-4. They are all full of charm with each cottage having it's own beautiful enclosed private garden, with spacious patios, barbecues, garden furniture and court yard.
Making it easy for you......
We automatically make up the beds for you with quality linen, provide fluffy towels, include electricity and the heating. There is also a dishwasher, washing maching and tumble drier, complementary WiFi, free car parking on-site and at Putsborough Beach (worth over £50) all included in the price when booking with us.
We offer a very special experience for our guests whilst staying on this working farm. Life slows down, you will find less need to be glued to phones and tablets, as you slip back closer to nature.
Georgeham village with two pubs serving delicious food, a shop and post office is 1 mile away, an easy stroll down the county lane.

3/6/ This is our third year at Pickwell Barton Cottage & we have had a fabulous holiday again. The cottage is so lovely with so many extra touches not usually found in self catering rentals. Thank you Jane for the care you lavish on your guest. The scenery in this area is breath taking and with the weather we have had this week, has been idyllic. We had so much fun on the beach, lots of nice outings and our grand children are counting the sleeps until we return next year. Thank you, Jane & Andrew.
24/6/ Biggest, Best, Closest to the sea place we have ever stayed at. 4th time we have stayed in Devon and it’s the best. Will try to come again!

The Cottage, originally used for carriage drivers, backs onto the stables, sleeps 6 with 2 bathrooms. This delightful, spacious cottage with its original oak beams offering lots of old charm and character throughout with its own private garden and patio. There is also private access to the beach through our fields. We offer free parking at the cottage (there is space for 3 cars) but we also give you free parking at Putsborough beach while staying with us (normal value £50)

We like to make life really easy for you so include
Complimentry WIFI, wood burner (logs supplied), linen, towels, tea towels and electricity, a dishwasher, washing machine, tumble dryer, fridge freezer, hair dryer, microwave, kettle, toaster, cafetiere, electric blender, electric cooker and ceramic hob. For babies we have a cot and highchair (these need to be pre-booked please). Patio table and chairs, BBQ with charcoal.
Natural spring water with each property has its own treatment unit to ensure perfect quilty all the time. The cottage is double glazed. there is an outside tap, with the barn to hang wetsuits/boards/bikes etc.

Jane puts a lovely hamper together for you with fresh flowers, bottle of wine, tea, coffee, sugar, milk, our fresh farm eggs (if her ladies are laying!), fairy liquid, dishcloth, dishwasher tablets, washing powder, foil, cling film and any other little things she thinks will make your holiday more special!

Upstairs there are 3 spacious bedrooms, one king, a double and super king/twin. Shower room with toilet.The ground floor offers a lovely spacious lounge with wood burner, 32" colour TV with Freeview, iPod docking station with radio.
On the ground floor is the 2nd bathroom with shower over bath, wash basin & toilet. There is another toilet with hand basin.
The 'heart of the home' is always the kitchen,and the cottage is no different with its large walk in larder. It has oaked beams, it's light and airy with its 3 windows and door opening onto the patio and beautiful private lawned garden.

This cottage is level throughout, has 2 bedrooms on the ground floor along with the bathroom and shower room, ideally suited for the less able person that dosen't want to climb the stairs.There is a ramp to enter the property. On entering the property by the front door you enter a spacious hall with an open gallery to the landing upstairs ( a quiet reading area) the bedroom (restricted head room), a king bed.
The Retreat is the perfect accomadation for a couple looking for a cosy, romantic short break or holiday. It is designed to help you, relax and de-stress in beautiful surroundings.
The cottage has been created from within the court, by just using part of this lovely property. The cottage is across the ground floor, giving you two wonderful bedrooms, two shower rooms (one with bath), farmhouse kitchen and cosy lounge with open fire.
The master bedroom is a very spacious with a king size bed that has stunning views of the beautiful garden, the second can be a twin or super-king, again this room overlooks the courtyard and garden beyond.
This stunning cottage is south facing so all rooms enjoy the fabulous views across the garden.

We are 1 hour from the M5 J27 in normal driving conditions!
From the M5 J27 take the A361 to Barnstaple and continue on the A361 to Braunton. At the traffic lights in Braunton turn left on to the B3231 for Saunton and Croyde. At Croyde Post Office (five miles) turn right for Georgeham (one mile) on entering the village turn left at the village hall for Putsborough. Pass by the village school, turn right for Pickwell. Three quarters of a mile on the left will find you at the entrance to Pickwell Barton. (2 hours from Bristol.)
