This is a magnificent castle and the jewel in the crown of  Mearns tourism. Strong defensive position on the rocky coastline overlooking the North Sea. Over a 100 steps down and back up so not for the faint hearted.

There are over 300 castles in Aberdeenshire to chose from, the greatest number in the Uk. It is rightly called castle country. So plenty to explore.
