This battery is a National Trust property on the most western point of the Isle of Wight overlooking the Needles rocks. There is a spiral staircase into a tunnel with a bird's eye view of the western approaches of the Solent. The walk to the battery over Tennyson Downs from Freshwater Bay is one of the best walks in the UK, with outstanding views in all directions.There is no vehicular access, only by bus from Alum Bay.
